The wealth of elderly care home information is on the increase as the government seeks to drive up the level of care.
In a move designed to prevent the elderly becoming isolated, the government wants to ensure adequate provision is made for those seeking to move into residential homes.
Association of Directors of Social Services president Tony Hunter told the BBC that care had been steadily improving recently.
The government set a target where nearly one in three people receiving social services care are living at home within four years.
That goal was reached at the end of 2004 – with 87,100 households now qualifying for home care in England.
